Validate

The mandate

Prove the problem before you perfect the product.

Discuss this stage →

Why this stage exists

Validation turns a compelling idea into a testable commercial thesis. The work is designed to separate founder conviction from evidence: who experiences the problem, how they solve it today, what the problem costs them, and what would make them switch.

The goal is not to manufacture certainty. It is to expose the assumptions that carry the most risk, test them efficiently, and leave the founder with a decision: proceed, change direction, narrow the customer, or stop before larger commitments are made.

01 Workstreams

What the team
works through.

Six connected workstreams, sequenced around the evidence and decisions this stage must produce.

01

Problem definition

Translate the invention into a specific job, pain, or constraint for a defined customer—without relying on product features to explain the value.

02

Market research

Build a source-backed view of market structure, segments, buying behavior, adoption barriers, and the conditions that could make demand real.

03

Competitive products

Compare direct products, substitutes, workarounds, pricing, claims, channels, reviews, and visible gaps in the current field.

04

Customer interviews

Recruit and interview relevant buyers or users with a neutral discussion guide that tests behavior, not politeness.

05

Pricing

Explore willingness-to-pay, reference prices, packaging, purchasing authority, and how the product might fit into an existing budget.

06

Preliminary unit economics

Model target price, estimated cost bands, gross margin, acquisition assumptions, returns, support, and the volume required to sustain the venture.

Validate.

Inventor Forge keeps the decision, the evidence, and the people doing the work in the same frame.

02 Integrated team

One stage.
Specialist depth.

Wealth Synergy coordinates the program while the operating companies contribute only where their expertise advances the stage.

Wealth Synergy

Leads the validation brief, identifies the decisive assumptions, connects evidence across disciplines, and frames the continue, revise, or stop decision.

Media Phoenix

Supports market and message research, customer discovery, competitive positioning, interview recruitment, and early demand experiments.

Virtuous Virtual Assistants

Coordinates interviews, research administration, contact lists, note organization, evidence libraries, and repeatable follow-up.

Fire Quark

Can build lightweight landing pages, survey flows, analytics, calculators, or clickable digital concepts when evidence needs a working interface.

Aurea Engineering

Provides an early engineering reality check when feasibility, architecture, materials, or likely manufacturing cost could change the market thesis.

03 Tangible output

Deliverables you can
inspect and use.

The exact scope varies by invention. The stage is still expected to end with decision-ready artifacts rather than a collection of meetings.

  • A one-page problem and customer definition
  • A cited market and competitor evidence brief
  • An interview guide, interview record, and findings synthesis
  • A pricing hypothesis with tested objections
  • A preliminary unit-economics model with sensitivity ranges
  • A decision memo listing validated, invalidated, and still-unknown assumptions

The exit gateReady for the next stage means…

  • A defined customer group acknowledges the problem in its own language.
  • Existing alternatives and switching barriers are understood.
  • There is a credible reason the proposed solution could win.
  • A plausible price and cost range can support a viable margin.
  • The founder can name the most important remaining risk and the next cheapest test.

What the founder brings

The program works
with you, not around you.

  • Access to the idea, relevant research, and prior conversations
  • Availability for evidence reviews and customer-interview learning
  • A willingness to change the concept when the evidence requires it
